Process support

Set the course for your processes and projects!

Projects and processes offer wonderful opportunities – it is precisely within their limited framework that new things can be developed. I support teams and organisations that need attitude, connection and a focus on the essentials.

Together we work out the decisive starting points for your project development and implementation. I also support you in process design and support, e.g. for strategy processes. I am also available as an assessor for (inter)national project applications for funding organisations.

Our process facilitators “guided us through two challenging strategy workshops with commitment, professionalism and empathy…, created an open atmosphere and encouraged productive discussions. We recommend them without reservation and look forward to future collaborations.”

“Marcus has an unbelievable flair for translating between different groups of actors, and getting the best out of everyone with a great deal of creativity and composure.”

Developing the future

From 2023 to 2025, I supported the HELMHOLTZ Research Field ‘Earth and Environment’ in its strategy development (partly with Celia Schmidt).

In three large strategy workshops, each with 50 to 70 participants, management and leading scientists from seven centres developed a joint strategy for the future.

Clarifying impact

In 2025–26, we develop the Theory of Change for the Gender & Chemicals Partnership (G&CP) in a structured process. A key milestone was the Impact Narrative Workshop held as part of Partnerships 2030. The client is ISC3.

The focus is on how impact can be precisely described, strategically aligned and realistically achieved – from defining goals to measurable change.

Aligning the team

At Climate Analytics’ Climate Policy Team Retreat 2025 in Berlin, I worked with the team to design and facilitate 2.5 intensive days of work.

We created an overview, developed strategic ‘plays’ and highlighted both challenges and strengths. The aim was to gain orientation and to position our strategic work more clearly in the context of the 1.5°C debate.

Enabling transformation

On behalf of Arepo, I designed and moderated an international exchange process for the BMUV’s ‘SPARK Transformation’ initiative in 2021–22.

40 high-ranking participants from governments, international organisations, academia, business and civil society discussed how social and climate-friendly policies can work together in five online workshops.

I was responsible for designing and facilitating the exchange process.

Making learning processes visible

An unfinished, beautiful work: in 2023–24, Jelka Pongs and I accompanied the core team of the ‘Zukunftsort’ (future place) Schloss Blumenfeld in documenting its development process.

Together, we worked out the steps, decisions and learning experiences of the castle community.

Assessing quality

Since 2015, I have been evaluating project proposals – including for Baden-Württemberg’s ‘real-world laboratory’ funding programmes, the International (IKI) and European (UKI) Climate Initiative (IKI) projects.

The focus is on the professional assessment of quality, feasibility and potential impact.
